BACKGROUND INFORMATION:
Christ Church, a new Episcopal Church in the Three Bridges area, is sponsoring
the event. According to the Rev. Eric Turner, Habitat for Humanity has been a
major focus of the fledgling church's outreach program. "Our congregation has
worked through Habitat to enable people in our community to have homes", said
Turner. "At the same time, we are building our congregation and our presence within
the area with the hope of building our own church home in the near future." The
church currently meets in the Three Bridges Elementary School gymnasium. The community
is invited to bid on a wide selection of goods and services while enjoying music,
delicious hors d'oeuvres and a beautiful setting. A cash bar will also be available.
Individuals and local businesses will offer bidders a smorgasbord of items including
antiques, art work, outings to sports events and restaurants, gourmet dinners,
and one-of-a-kind baskets featuring creative collections of goods and services.
Auction chairperson Jane Paradiso predicts that this event will become a cornerstone
of the local charity and social scene for years to come. She states that "support
has been overwhelming from the community, offering up top quality and creative
items to be auctioned" Those who wish to support the program but cannot attend
the event may send a tax-deductible contribution to Christ Church, 39 Sutphin
Road, Flemington, NJ 08822. Checks should be payable to Christ Church, with the
notation, Benefit Auction.
